Thomas Wolsey, in pursuit of the papacy for himself, in his guise as Arbiter of Christendom, engineered a vicious backstabbing plan and created a war with France.
For him,the plan collapsed, and when it did there was no place for Catherine of Aragon as Queen of England or Princess Mary as Henry VIII’s heir.
